‘Survivorman’ Les Stroud to visit Sarasota for Concert, Fundraiser

The Sarasota Military Academy (SMA) Project Earth Celebration, held in April 2019, will feature speakers, representatives from environmental organizations and a benefit kayak tour and concert by ‘Survivorman’ Les Stroud, celebrated keynote speaker, musician and author, television host and environmental enthusiast.

The public is invited to register for experiences including the concert and a VIP Kayak Mangrove Tour, led and hosted by Les Stroud through Lido Key, on Thursday, April 25, 2019. Proceeds from the tour will benefit Sarasota Military Academy and ShelterBox USA.

On Friday, April 26, 2019, the community is invited purchase tickets to hear Les Stroud in concert, which will be held from 7 – 9:30pm at the Bayside Community Church East Sarasota Campus, located at 8200 Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota.

Stroud’s visit is planned as part of the Sarasota Military Academy 2019 ‘Project Earth Celebration’ on April 24, which includes speakers and environmental representatives from organizations like Save our Seabirds, ShelterBox USA, Ducks Unlimited, 4-H, Mote Marine Laboratory, University of Florida IFAS Florida Master Gardener Program, Big Cat Habitat and Sarasota County Mosquito Management. Planned speakers include climatologist Stephanie Abrams, environmentalist Casson Trenor, global activist Dr. Esther Ngumbi, ‘Gator Boy’ Paul Bedard, “Awesome Planet” producer Jason Evans, Mote Marine Hydrologist Dr. Tracy Fanara and Survivorman Les Stroud.

SMA’s Project Earth Celebration is organized under the ‘Inspire Project’ curriculum created by Sarasota Military Academy teachers Deb Walker and Todd Brown, PhD., winner of the “Ignite Innovation” award from the Education Foundation of Sarasota County and a Teach Sustainable Development Goals Ambassador for the United Nations. Speakers and environmental organizations will present to SMA cadets on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 through the Project Earth Celebration curriculum.
